Late September still brings up to +20°C, but October signals change

According to Latvia's Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre, Tuesday and Wednesday will bring more clouds across Latvia, with isolated rain showers in some areas. There is also a chance of a localized thunderstorm overnight into Wednesday in western and central districts. With weak winds, fog is expected to form at night and in the mornings, which could reduce visibility.

Nighttime temperatures will depend on cloud cover. On the night into Tuesday, as skies partially clear, most of the country will cool to +5…+10°C, while the Kurzeme coast will stay milder at +11…+13°C. On the night into Wednesday, under thicker cloud cover, the minimum temperature will actually be higher, at +10…+14°C.

During the day, air will still warm to +14…+19°C, with some areas potentially exceeding the +20°C mark — a sign that autumn's cooler weather has not yet fully taken hold.

What to expect in early October

As October begins, conditions are expected to remain relatively calm, with light winds continuing and fog forming locally overnight. In the early hours of Thursday night, eastern areas may still see some light rain, but mostly dry weather is forecast afterward.

Daytime temperatures in early October could even edge up slightly, a few degrees above +15°C. However, forecasters note that autumn is gradually asserting itself, with temperatures set to decline step by step and nights growing progressively cooler.
