Sybiha: US-Iran Deal Could Spur Peace Efforts in Ukraine
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha says the US-Iran agreement may encourage the United States to intensify peace efforts to end Russian aggression against Ukraine.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has stated that Ukraine views the agreement between the United States and Iran as an impulse and opportunity for Washington to step up peace efforts aimed at ending Russia’s war against Ukraine.
In a post on X, Sybiha expressed hope that the agreement would provide a solid foundation for lasting peace in the region, protection of human lives, and stabilization of the global economy. He stressed the need to restore free navigation through the Strait of Hormuz – for the stability of energy markets and to uphold freedom of navigation as a fundamental principle of international order.
The minister added that the peace process will be a central topic during the meeting between the Ukrainian and US presidents on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Evian. He emphasized that both in the Middle East and in Ukraine, the key is not only to stop wars but also to ensure durable peace and prevent future aggression.
As previously reported, the signing of the peace agreement between the US and Iran is scheduled for June 19 in Geneva. US President Donald Trump earlier announced the deal and the imminent reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Germany, France, the United Kingdom, and Italy have declared their readiness to support the restoration of traffic through the strait.
