Woman says stepfather used Grok to create over 7,000 explicit images from childhood photo
A woman has joined a lawsuit against Elon Musk's xAI, alleging her stepfather used the Grok chatbot to turn a childhood photo of her into thousands of explicit images. The case accuses xAI of failing to prevent Grok from being used to generate child sexual abuse material.

A woman identified as Jane Doe 4 has joined an existing lawsuit filed by three Tennessee teenagers against Elon Musk's company xAI. The suit examines the role played by xAI's chatbot Grok in the creation of child sexual abuse material.
According to a report by The Washington Post, the woman alleges her stepfather used Grok to manipulate a photograph taken when she was 11 years old, generating more than 7,000 explicit images from it. She said her stepfather was found dead by suicide two days after the images were discovered during a law enforcement raid.
"Limitless access to these tools is spreading so quickly," the woman said. "It is taking everyday life and turning it into child sexual abuse."
The lawsuit against xAI
The teenagers who originally filed the suit accuse xAI, now part of SpaceX, of failing to implement basic safeguards to stop Grok from being used to generate explicit images of real people, including minors. Earlier this year, the platform X was flooded with millions of sexualized images generated by Grok. The plaintiffs are seeking class action status for the case.
TechCrunch has reached out to xAI for comment but has not yet received a response.
