Good news: forecasters say heavy rains to end, warmer weather ahead
Although the cyclone center will remain over Latvia on Thursday, the heaviest rains are over. A warmer air mass is expected on Sunday, and early next week temperatures could reach +20…+25°C.

On Thursday, the cyclone center will still be over Latvia, but the most intense precipitation is already behind us, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Center. During the day, cumulus clouds will form, bringing occasional rain to most of the country and thunderstorms in some places. A gentle wind will blow across most of Latvia, but along the coast, northern winds will gust up to 20–22 m/s. Air temperatures will only reach +14…+19°C.
On Thursday night, the wind near water bodies will remain gusty, but during Friday it will calm down and become light. On Friday, some short-lived precipitation will still be observed, mostly in the southern parts of the country, and there is a chance of thunderstorms. Fog may form in some areas overnight. Minimum temperatures at night will be +10…+16°C, maximum during the day +18…+22°C.
The weekend will remain mostly cloudy and rainy. However, on Sunday, warmer air is expected to flow into the country, and during the first half of next week, temperatures will rise to +20…+25°C in many places. This marks the end of the prolonged rainy period.
