Škoda is expanding its Octavia lineup with a hybrid variant — the first time this model has received hybrid propulsion. The new system will be offered in both the hatchback and Combi wagon body styles.

Technology shared with Volkswagen

The hybrid system is based on technology that first appeared in the latest Volkswagen Golf and T-Roc models. It combines a 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine with two electric motors, a single-speed automatic transmission, and a compact 1.6 kWh battery. The system automatically switches between fully electric, series, or parallel hybrid operating modes depending on driving conditions.

On electric power alone, the car can travel roughly up to two kilometres, after which the battery is recharged using the petrol engine and brake energy recuperation. Škoda estimates this setup can cut fuel consumption by around 10 to 15 percent compared with conventional engines.

Equipment and specifications

Unlike standard Octavia versions, the hybrid variant comes with larger displays as standard — a 10-inch digital instrument cluster and a 13-inch central infotainment screen. Both body styles will reach a top speed of 180 km/h.

The battery is positioned beneath the rear seats, so it has little impact on cargo capacity — the sedan retains 460–1400 litres of boot space, while the wagon offers 485–1540 litres.

Availability

Škoda plans to open order books in October 2026, with the first cars expected to reach customers in December. Pricing for the new hybrid model has not yet been disclosed.
