Skoda begins production of Peaq, its largest model and new electric flagship

Skoda has started building the Peaq, a new electric crossover, at its main factory in Mlada Boleslav. According to the company's press office, the model is assembled on the same production line as the electric Elroq and Enyaq, as well as the Octavia. This approach allows for flexible and efficient manufacturing, making it possible to handle orders for different models at the same time.

The Peaq measures 4.87 metres in length, making it the largest Skoda vehicle since the brand became part of the Volkswagen Group. It is based on the MEB platform, which is shared with the Enyaq and Elroq, so the models can use common production technologies. Batteries are also produced in Mlada Boleslav. The most powerful version is equipped with a 91 kWh (86 kWh net) battery, providing a driving range of more than 640 kilometres. A 63 kWh (59 kWh net) battery option will also be available. Power output ranges from 150 kW to 220 kW, with buyers able to choose rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

To adapt the production line for its largest model, Skoda made a number of upgrades at the plant. These include new assembly solutions, as well as modernised equipment in the pressing, body and paint shops. Skoda says the Peaq is the brand's new flagship, standing out with its spaciousness, modern technology and high production flexibility. By the end of July, the company had received around 8,500 orders. Skoda has released photos of the new model on the production line.
