Scotland has announced its judo squad for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, featuring veteran Sarah Adlington and a host of young talent. Adlington will turn 40 just days after the Games, while her five female teammates have an average age of only 20.

Among the debutants is Sunny Doig, 21, who previously participated in Team Scotland's Achieve Programme at Birmingham 2022. The youngest member is 18-year-old Eva Ewing, while British champion Summer Shaw, 22, is the oldest woman on the team.

In the men's squad, Scott Cusack draws attention as he follows the path of his parents, Loretta and Billy Cusack, who both won medals for Scotland when judo debuted at the 1990 Auckland Games. Loretta, also the 1982 world champion, will serve as the Judo Sport Competition Manager for Glasgow 2026, allowing her to be present for her son's debut. Cusack expressed his desire to make his parents proud, noting his long-standing ambition to compete at the Commonwealth Games.

Another first-time selection is Ollie Short, a silver medallist at the Hong Kong Asian Open and the Mandurah Oceania Open. His brother Alex Short competed at Birmingham 2022, narrowly missing out on a bronze medal.

The full squad: Men: Jaden Calder (-100kg), Scott Cusack (-90kg), Neil MacDonald (-66kg), Gregor Miller (+100kg), Aiden Moffat (-66kg), Daniel Pacitti (-73kg), Ollie Short (-73kg). Women: Sarah Adlington (+78kg), Sunny Doig (-63kg), Eva Ewing (-48kg), Summer Shaw (-48kg), Nicole Wood (-78kg), Sophie Wood (-63kg).
