Skrīveri exhibition turns metal into vessels for personal life stories
Mechanical engineer Maksims Bičkovskis, who lives in Skrīveri, is showing an exhibition of metal artworks that capture people's memories and significant life moments. The exhibition also gives him a chance to get to know his new local community.
An unusual exhibition titled “Metal in Which People's Stories Live” is currently on display in Skrīveri, created by mechanical engineer Maksims Bičkovskis. In his work, metal — usually seen as a cold, technical material — takes on a different meaning, becoming a medium for capturing memories, relationships and important life events.
From car restoration to art
Bičkovskis' interest in metalworking began with restoring vintage cars. Over time, the technical skills he gained through that hobby evolved into creative work, eventually giving rise to the art form seen in the exhibition, where metal serves as a carrier of personal human stories.
A way to meet the local community
Bičkovskis and his family have lived in Skrīveri for only about half a year. For him, the exhibition has also become a way to get closer to the local people and the community he now calls home. The displayed works reflect personal stories and key life moments, which the author has transformed into tangible objects using his metalworking skills.
