Skrīveru Secondary School celebrated its 160th anniversary on Saturday with a traditional reunion. Graduates, current and former teachers, staff, and school friends attended the event. A special moment came when the 2023 graduates met their primary school teacher Anita Kataja-Paegle and took a group photo.

The ceremony honored former school principals. Long-time principal Aldis Rakstiņš addressed the audience, recalling his early school years and teachers. He emphasized that the school's greatest value lies in teachers' work and achieved results. Rakstiņš thanked colleagues and local government leaders for their cooperation, noting that traditions and a sense of community are the foundation of the school's success.

Former parish manager Andris Zālītis called the school one of the most important symbols of Skrīveri and expressed confidence that the secondary school will continue to exist. He also mentioned the potential for even higher goals.

The reunion highlighted sports traditions, especially handball, which has been an integral part of school life for decades. Evening entertainment was provided by the band "Bruģis," inviting attendees to sing and dance. Visitors could consult a fortune-teller, receive a caricature, and take photos in a designated photo corner.

A symbolic moment was the lighting of candles at the monument to Andrejs Upīts, honoring the writer's memory. The event brought together several generations, sharing memories and creating new ones until the next reunion in five years.
