Buses to replace part of Skulte line trains on August 24
Latvia's Passenger Train company says storm damage will force buses to replace trains between Saulkrasti and Skulte on August 24, while the Riga–Saulkrasti stretch keeps its normal schedule. Rail traffic on the affected section is expected to resume by evening.

Latvian rail operator "Pasažieru vilciens" (PV) has announced service changes on the Skulte line following damage caused by a recent powerful storm.
On August 24, trains on the Riga–Saulkrasti section will run according to the regular timetable. However, on the Saulkrasti–Skulte section, passengers will be transported by buses departing from Skulte in line with the train schedule.
Coordinated bus and train connections
PV says bus and train departures will be coordinated to ensure a smooth transfer for passengers. If a bus is delayed, the connecting train will wait, and vice versa, so that passengers can continue their journey without unnecessary waiting.
The company aims to restore train service on the Saulkrasti–Skulte section by 20:00 on August 24, once state rail infrastructure manager "Latvijas dzelzceļš" completes repairs to the tracks and overhead power lines.
Disruptions on other lines
Due to power supply problems, some train services on the Ieriķi–Valga section may also be delayed. These issues are expected to be resolved by 18:00 on August 24.
Meanwhile, train services on the Tukums, Jelgava, Aizkraukle, Sigulda, Daugavpils, Rēzekne and Liepāja lines are expected to return to their normal schedules once storm damage is cleared, though some delays may still occur as infrastructure repair work continues.
Passengers are advised to check the latest travel information via the Vivi app or the company's website before departing, and to call the free 24-hour helpline 8760 with any questions.
