SkyeBrowse lets one drone flight produce a full roof inspection

Videogrammetry platform SkyeBrowse has launched a Roof Damage Analysis tool that turns video from a single drone flight into roof measurements and an AI damage screening. It also added new map export formats and improved 3D model correction.

SkyeBrowse, a videogrammetry platform (software that builds 3D models from video), has introduced a new tool called Roof Damage Analysis. It lets inspectors measure an entire roof and screen it for damage using footage from one drone flight. The update targets roofing contractors, insurance adjusters, surveyors and public safety teams that need to document properties, storm damage and incident scenes quickly.

How the roof analysis works

A pilot flies over a property and uploads the video, and the platform generates a 3D model. The software identifies the roof, outlines its facets and calculates measurements. If it picks the wrong building, the user can click the correct roof. Results include total area in roofing squares, main pitch, facet count, pitch and area for each facet, and the lengths of ridges, hips, valleys, eaves, rakes and step flashing. The tool also suggests a waste percentage for material estimates. Outlines can be edited by dragging corners or adding and removing facets.

An AI feature examines up to 16 frames from the flight and eight extra gallery photos in about 20 seconds. It looks for hail impacts, wind creases, missing or lifted shingles, cracked tiles, membrane tears and other signs of damage, and pins findings on the 3D model as “Likely” or “Possible.” An inspector must approve or reject every finding before it enters the final report. The company describes the tool as a screening aid, not a replacement for professional inspection: it does not determine the cause of damage, insurance coverage or needed repairs.

A Weather tab pulls reports from the US NOAA Storm Prediction Center on hail, wind and tornadoes within 40 kilometers of the property for the year before the capture date, and can suggest a date of loss. The results can be exported as a PDF report.

Exports and corrections

The new Export 2D Map option produces files for SARTopo/CalTopo, ArcGIS, Google Earth, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Global Mapper and other applications. Topographic Map users also get a contours DXF export.

In the ground control point (GCP) tool, points can now be set as Control or Check points, and corrections applied to the model: vertical offset, 3D shift or a seven-parameter transformation. A correction can be removed to restore the original model.

The features are available on SkyeBrowse Pro models at $49.99 per model, or $39.99 with annual billing, as well as on Public Safety and Enterprise plans.
