Skyrover V1 Flies Well in a Hands-On Test, but Is Missing From the Maker's Store

The new sub-250-gram Skyrover V1 drone showed good stability and flight time in a video first look, but it is not listed in the maker's store, and its price and FCC ID are unknown.

The drone-focused channel Half Chrome published a first look at the Skyrover V1, a consumer drone, on Thursday night. Reviewer Jack Towne says he has flown the sub-250-gram aircraft for a couple of weeks. He calls his video a first impression rather than a review, because he does not know what the V1 costs. DroneXL reports that on Friday morning Skyrover's store listed only the S1 and X1 models, and the page where a V1 would sit returned a 404 error. The video description links to an Amazon listing for the V1.

What the drone offers

The advertised specifications are 40 minutes of flight time and 20 km of range. Towne flew more than 30 minutes per battery. Obstacle sensing relies on a camera on top and one underneath, angled to see ahead and behind, plus sensors at the front and on the belly. The sides are blind spots. The drone avoided a bush Towne flew it at.

Video records to a microSD card or to 40 GB of built-in storage. Flight modes include follow me, orbit and dronie. The gimbal does not rotate for vertical video, so the frame is cropped instead. The controller has a color touchscreen. Towne calls the drone stable, easy to fly and suitable for beginners, and he promises a comparison with the DJI Mini 5 Pro.

The paperwork question

Towne says the weight below 250 grams means no registration with the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and no Remote ID. The video description adds that requirements depend on how and where you fly. Since December 22, 2025, foreign-made drones cannot receive new authorizations from the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC), so a V1 sold in the US must ship under a grant issued before that date. Towne does not mention the V1's FCC ID.

DroneXL's view is that the sales situation of the new model remains unclear, and it advises waiting for the store page, the price and the FCC ID.
