The finale of the second series of the British TV reality show The Celebrity Traitors airs on 30 October, and The Guardian's live blog has summed up the state of play beforehand. In the show, a group of celebrities plays a game in which some are "traitors" and the rest are "faithfuls". The traitors secretly eliminate other players at night, while the faithfuls must work out during the day who the traitors are. The final episode starts at 8pm, and the winner is expected to be known around 9:20pm.

Who is left

Seven contestants remain after the events of the previous night and day. The traitors are the show's host Maya Jama and King Kenny. The faithfuls are actor Michael Sheen, comedian Romesh Ranganathan, singer Leigh-Anne Pinnock, actor Sebastian Croft and musician James Blunt. Also still in the game is Bash, whom the Guardian writer describes as a contestant people often forget is there.

The previous episode

Three players left the game in the last episode. Joanne was banished by vote, Sharon was murdered, and comedian James Acaster revealed himself as a traitor. The Guardian writer suggests Acaster may have sacrificed himself to protect Jama. He adds that a suggestion emerged during the day that events behind the scenes were more distressing than what was shown on screen, with discussion of Acaster's mental health.

Ahead of the finale

In the source's assessment, Jama is in genuine danger for the first time, as many now suspect her. Kenny appears to be the safest traitor at present. Sheen was actively guessing the traitors in the last episode, while Ranganathan, in the writer's view, looks innocent to many. At the start of the finale night, Kenny and Jama discuss their final murder in the turret, weighing up eliminating either Sheen or Bash.
