On Saturday, June 6, Smiltene Secondary School held its 12th-grade graduation ceremony. The event’s theme was inspired by director Jānis Streičs’ film "Limousine on Midsummer Night's Color." Graduates, together with their homeroom teachers Līga Kaupe and Ingūna Rulle, reflected on their school years and thanked teachers and parents for their support.
During the ceremony, students were honored for outstanding academic achievements. The scholarship of benefactor Māra Dāme was awarded to Kristers Purviņš. The Latvian Centenary Scholarship for excellent academic performance and active social work was given to Justīne Būce. The prize of longtime benefactor Anna Zadiņa (Zadiņš family) was awarded to Elīna Kalēja. Smiltene Municipality monetary awards for high academic achievements, participation in Olympiads, and active social work were received by six graduates: Justīne Būce, Emīls Čukurs, Elīna Kalēja, Meldra Mūrmane, Kristers Purviņš, and Paula Šmulāne.
A total of 43 students studied in the 12th grade. The results of centralized exams will be available from July 3, when graduates can make final decisions about their future paths. Some have clear plans to study in Latvia or abroad, while others have chosen to enlist in 11-month military service to gain experience and contemplate their future.
The homeroom teachers noted that they have developed a close bond with these students, having spent the entire high school period together. The graduation ceremony concluded with wishes of success for the graduates in their further studies, careers, and personal growth.
