Finland Imposes Air and Sea Traffic Restrictions Due to Drone Threat
Finland's defense forces temporarily restricted air and sea space near Kotka on July 10 in response to potential drone incursions. The restrictions lasted about an hour and a half, and no drones were ultimately detected.

The Finnish Defense Forces imposed temporary restrictions on air and maritime traffic near the city of Kotka on the Gulf of Finland coast on the morning of July 10. According to a statement on X, the measure was precautionary, aimed at ensuring public safety and enabling authorities to respond to possible unmanned aerial vehicles.
The restrictions came into effect at 4:00 AM and were lifted around 5:25 AM. The Finnish Defense Forces' General Staff press service told broadcaster Yle that no drones were detected in the country's airspace.
Similar measures were taken on Monday, July 6, and on the previous Saturday. In all instances, the restrictions were linked to Ukrainian drone attacks on Russia, particularly near St. Petersburg, which lies close to the Finnish border.
