A tourism campaign in the Turku region of south-western Finland is looking for a participant for an unusual job: researching and describing the scents of the Turku archipelago. The pay on offer is €2,000 gross for 5 to 7 days of work, according to the media outlet NLC.

The job is part of a tourism promotion campaign aimed at presenting the Turku region as one of the most scent-rich travel destinations. The archipelago consists of more than 20,000 islands and sea rocks.

What the job involves

The selected participant will have to find and describe scents typical of the region, such as the sea, pine forests and freshly baked bread. They will also take photographs and shoot video for the tourism organisation's social media channels.

The trip is planned for May or June 2027. The organisers will cover travel costs and provide free accommodation. The €2,000 payment covers the whole working period.

Requirements for applicants

No special education is required. However, the candidate must have a good sense of smell and be creative, be able to appear confidently on camera, and own photography or filming equipment. Applicants must be at least 18 years old.

To apply, candidates must submit a short video in which they smell an object and describe its scent.
