Finland Offers €2,000 for a Week of Studying the Scents of the Turku Archipelago
The Finnish tourism organisation Visit Turku Archipelago is looking for someone to explore and describe the scents of the Turku Archipelago over five to seven days. The job pays €2,000, and applications close on 25 October.

Visit Turku Archipelago, the tourism organisation for the Turku Archipelago on Finland's southwestern coast, is seeking a person to spend five to seven days in May or June 2027 exploring and describing the region's scents. The pay is €2,000 before tax, and the organisers will cover travel and accommodation. The offer was reported by the Estonian portal limon.postimees.ee.
The project aims to promote the archipelago as a place that stays in visitors' memories not only for its scenery but also for its aromas. The organisers want to learn how an outsider perceives the area, rather than locals who are already used to their surroundings.
Duties
The chosen candidate will travel across the archipelago's islands and assess a range of smells, including sea air, pine forests, the aroma of a sauna and freshly baked bread. The candidate must be able to describe impressions vividly and clearly enough to make others want to visit. The job also includes taking photos and video, which the organisation will use on social media and other tourism promotion channels. Afterwards, a report on the impressions gained must be prepared.
The organisers consider the Turku Archipelago one of the best-smelling places in the world and want an independent person to assess that claim.
Requirements and how to apply
No professional smell-assessment diploma or perfumery experience is needed. Applicants must be at least 18, have the right to work in Finland both when applying and during the assignment, be comfortable in front of a camera, and have a device suitable for quality photos and video, such as a smartphone.
First, the candidate posts a short video on a public Instagram or TikTok account, introducing themselves, choosing an object, smelling it and describing their impressions. The video must tag the organisation's profile and include the specified hashtag. Then an application form with a link to the video must be completed.
Organisers will weigh the ability to describe scents, performance on camera, social media activity and the skill of engaging an audience. The deadline is 25 October 2026. Candidates will be notified of results by 10 November, and the selected person is due to be announced on 17 November.
