Sony Bravia 9 II: Powerful RGB LED TV with Best-in-Class Anti-Reflective Screen
The Sony Bravia 9 II is an RGB LED TV that delivers high brightness, excellent color accuracy, and the best anti-reflective screen on the market, but comes at a significant premium over its predecessor.

Sony has launched its flagship Bravia 9 II television, featuring RGB LED backlighting. Instead of the traditional blue LED, it uses clusters of red, green, and blue LEDs to produce a wider color gamut.
The TV achieves 3,800 nits peak HDR brightness and 885 nits full-field white, making it one of the brightest models available. However, in real-world use, the Bravia 9 II and the cheaper Bravia 7 II (2,200 nits) have similar everyday brightness.
A key advantage is the anti-reflective screen, which scatters ambient light effectively without affecting black levels. Even bright lamps or windows are reduced to a dim glow.
Compared to the Bravia 7 II, the 9 II has more dimming zones, reducing blooming (light bleed). Blooming is still noticeable, especially when viewing off-axis. In fact, off-axis blooming is more pronounced than on the 7 II, possibly due to the anti-reflective coating.
The TV includes two HDMI 2.1 ports, runs Google TV, and comes with a USB-C rechargeable remote. It uses the same processor and lenticular stand as the Bravia 7 II.
The 65-inch Bravia 9 II costs $3,600, while the 65-inch Bravia 7 II is $2,600, and the 65-inch OLED Bravia 8 II is $3,000. While the Bravia 9 II is an excellent RGB LED TV, the reviewer recommends OLED models for most users due to superior contrast. However, for rooms with significant reflections, the Bravia 9 II is the best choice.
