US electronics retailer B&H Photo is offering Sony's latest high-end wireless earbuds, the WF-1000XM6 in black, for $238 for a limited time. The discount is $92, and it is the lowest price recorded for this model. That makes the new earbuds cheaper right now than their predecessor, the WF-1000XM5. No other retailer is currently discounting the XM6.

The earbuds feature active noise cancellation, which reduces surrounding sound. John Higgins, a reviewer at the tech site The Verge, concluded in his test that the XM6 block out other people's conversations better than any other earbuds he has tested.

What has improved

Compared with the previous model, Sony has refined the bone-conduction sensor and added microphones powered by artificial intelligence. These help keep the wearer's voice clear during calls, including in noisy environments. The sound is described as clean and balanced, with strong bass.

The Sound Connect app lets users adjust listening settings, including how much ambient sound they hear without taking the earbuds out. Touch controls can also be customized. The earbuds support Sony's LDAC audio codec, which delivers higher-quality sound on compatible Android devices.

New in this model is a listening mode that makes music sound like background audio playing in a cafe. It lets people listen to music without being distracted too much from whatever they are doing.
