Latgalian musician Sovvaļnīks (real name Ingars Gusāns) has published a lyric video for the song “Digitals katuoļs”, which reflects on shifting world values. The lyrics were written by Marija Dzeisla, whose poetry Sovvaļnīks uses for the first time in his work, but not the last. With this release, the artist also announced that his new album “Cārtumi” is now available both physically and on digital platforms as of July 1.

The video was created by Dāvis Kots, who explains that the clip centers on two young people trying to turn on a television. The TV serves as a metaphor for cultural heritage passed down through generations. The protagonists try everything to revive the television but fail to realize the crucial point: it is not broken, it simply has no signal. The video raises the question of whether cultural heritage is truly gone or if we simply no longer know how to receive the “signals”.

The song was recorded in Riga at Factory Sounds Studio with producer Gints Stankevičs, featuring musicians Mareks Gusāns, Mārcis Lipskis, and Gints Stankevičs.

Sovvaļnīks has previously released three albums: “Sūpluok” (2009), “Bolts susātivs” (2010), and “Napaseitynuots” (2016), with songs set to poetry by well-known Latgalian poets such as Ontons Kūkojs, Anna Rancāne, Oskars Seiksts, and Valentīns Lukaševičs.

The new album “Cārtumi” is available on Spotify and YouTube. Its release was supported by the State Culture Capital Foundation's target program “Latvīšu viesturyskūs zemu atteisteibys programma” and the association “Latgolys regiona atteisteibys agentura”. The project was implemented by the association “Latgolys Producentu Grupa”.

An album presentation and insight into Sovvaļnīks’ work will take place on September 25, 2026, at the Latgale Embassy “Gors” during the concert “Sovvaļnīkam – 18”.
