Spain's national football team secured a convincing victory in their second Group H match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, thrashing Saudi Arabia 4-0 in Atlanta. The Spanish side took control early, scoring three goals in the first half.
Lamine Yamal opened the scoring in the 10th minute with his first ever World Cup goal, finishing a pass from Mikel Oyarzabal. Oyarzabal then scored twice – first in the 21st minute from a delivery by Emerick Laporte, and then in the 24th minute with a header from Dani Olmo's cross, making it 3-0. In the 36th minute, Oyarzabal hit the crossbar.
Early in the second half, in the 49th minute, a corner kick led to Marc Cucurella's shot; Saudi goalkeeper Mohammed Al-Owais saved it, but the ball bounced off defender Hassan Tambakti and into the net for an own goal, making it 4-0. In stoppage time, Ferran Torres had a goal disallowed after a VAR review for offside.
With this result, Spain now has four points (one win and a draw with Cape Verde), while Saudi Arabia has one point (a draw with Uruguay). In the opening round, Spain drew 0-0 with Cape Verde, and Uruguay drew 1-1 with Saudi Arabia.
