As Spain battles wildfires, extreme heat forecast to continue

Wildfires in Spain have burned nearly 200,000 acres, with crews still fighting the blazes. Another heat wave is expected with temperatures above 100°F starting Wednesday.

Firefighters in Spain continue to battle large wildfires that broke out last week, which have so far scorched nearly 200,000 acres across the country.

The nation is bracing for another extreme heat event, with temperatures forecast to exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit (about 38°C) starting Wednesday. The heat wave is expected to worsen conditions, making it harder to contain the flames.

Authorities are urging caution as the combination of dry weather and high temperatures increases the risk of new fires. The cause of the initial blazes is still under investigation.
