Spanish Consortium Demands €14 Million from Latvia for Terminated Rail Baltica Design
Spanish firms IDOM and INECO have filed an arbitration claim seeking compensation for the terminated design contract for the Rail Baltica route through Riga.

A consortium of two Spanish companies—"IDOM, Consulting, Engineering, Architecture" and "Ingeniería y Economía del Transporte (INECO)"—has submitted a request to international arbitration. They are demanding more than €14 million in compensation from Latvia.
The claim relates to the termination of the design contract for the main section of the Rail Baltica line passing through Riga. This was confirmed by representatives of the Baltic joint venture "RB Rail" to the LETA agency.
The consortium argues that the contract's termination caused losses that should be reimbursed by the Latvian side. The case is currently under review by an international arbitration tribunal. Further details about the legal basis of the claim have not been disclosed.
Rail Baltica is one of the largest infrastructure projects in the Baltics, and the outcome of this dispute could affect future cooperation with foreign companies.
