In one family, the father has always been the main gamer, but an unexpected close bond formed between the mother and son through gaming. The 11-year-old boy, already a fan of Minecraft, now explores the new game Blue Prince with his mother on the recently released Nintendo Switch 2. Blue Prince is a puzzle-solving roguelike where players must explore a 45-room mansion, with rooms rearranging daily, to reach the mysterious Room 46.

The mother and son complement each other perfectly: the son has high spatial intelligence—he easily remembers directions, quickly solves puzzles that require aligning pieces or flipping switches in specific orders, and instantly notices minor changes in rooms. The mother excels at word puzzles, symbolism, and grasping the overall story. When the son struggles, she uses those moments as teaching opportunities to explain her logical reasoning process.

Despite the son having learning challenges with reading and writing, the game's motivation has led him to create a personal notebook where he categorizes discoveries and even writes them down. The father notes that the game is not just entertainment but a way to expand cognitive abilities and develop strategies for daily life. Although the son spends more screen time than ideal, the father believes the shared adventure and enthusiasm make it worthwhile.
