Spotify Launches Reserved Ticket Sales for Superfans – First Access to Live Concerts
Spotify announced a new feature called 'Reserved by Spotify' that holds two concert tickets for top fans before general sale. The system launches in the US for Premium subscribers, starting with artist Role Model.

Spotify on Thursday rolled out “Reserved by Spotify,” a new system that identifies an artist’s most loyal fans and reserves two tour tickets for them before they go on sale to the public. The feature is initially available in the United States for Premium subscribers aged 18 and older.
Role Model is the first artist partner to use the ticket-holding system. Fans will start receiving notifications about secured tickets on June 23, ahead of the general public sale. Spotify said it will not charge any fees on transactions. For now, the feature is limited to concerts at Live Nation venues, with tickets sold through Ticketmaster. The company aims to add more partners over time, including smaller venues and international users.
The Reserved system is designed to combat scalpers who use automated tools to buy up tickets and resell them at higher prices. By offering held tickets to verified fans, Spotify also hopes to encourage paid subscriptions and increase engagement. To qualify as a superfan, Spotify uses signals such as streams, shares, and overall activity. The company monitors for artificial behavior—simply playing music in the background will not give an advantage. Location is also considered to ensure the fan is near the show.
Eligible fans will see a personalized offer on their Spotify Home screen, showing tour dates, the reservation window, and a reminder option. When the window opens—typically for about a day—they can purchase up to two tickets before the public sale.
Spotify noted that in many cases, there will be more superfans than available seats, so not every fan will receive an offer every time. Role Model’s tour covers 17 U.S. cities and is the first of “a slate” of artists launching tours this week. Spotify did not disclose the other artist names.
