Explosion in Monaco: Ukrainian MFA Responds

On June 29 at approximately 21:00, an explosion occurred in Monaco, injuring three people, two of whom sustained very serious injuries. According to media reports, among the injured are Ukrainian businessman Vadym Yermolayev, who is under sanctions, and his family members.

Ukraine's Foreign Ministry press service stated that the Ukrainian embassy in France, which covers Monaco, is in constant contact with local authorities to identify the victims and provide consular assistance.

The Monaco prosecutor's office has launched an investigation into attempted murder and the placement of an explosive device in a public place, ruling out a terrorist motive. A suspect captured on surveillance cameras is believed to have fled to France.

Vadym Yermolayev is a prominent businessman from Dnipro, founder of the trade and manufacturing corporation Alef, and one of the city's largest developers. He regularly appeared on Forbes' list of the 100 richest Ukrainians. In 2019, he renounced his Ukrainian citizenship for a Cypriot passport. He was one of the subjects of the Ukrainska Pravda investigation "Monaco Battalion," which revealed Ukrainian businessmen, politicians, and oligarchs living on the Côte d'Azur during the full-scale war.
