Starlink V5 dish is now available – smaller, lighter, and more efficient
SpaceX has launched the Starlink V5 residential dish in select areas, significantly reducing its size, weight, and power consumption compared to the V4 model, though peak download speeds are slightly lower.

SpaceX's new Starlink V5 residential dish has started shipping to customers in select markets. The company says the dish is notably smaller, lighter, and requires less power than the previous V4 version. As production ramps up, the V5 will become available in more regions worldwide.
The V5 dish is not designed for in-motion use. For mobile applications, customers will need to wait for the revamped Starlink Mini, which was teased alongside the V5 last month but has not yet launched.
Specification comparison
Compared to the V4, the V5 dish has a much smaller footprint: dimensions are 384 mm x 306 mm x 34 mm (15.12 x 12.05 x 1.34 inches) versus 594 mm x 383 mm x 39.7 mm for the V4. Weight drops from 2.9 kg (6.4 lb) to just 1.1 kg (2.4 lb).
Power consumption is roughly halved, averaging 35–50 watts compared to 75–100 watts for the V4. However, peak download speeds are slightly lower: the V5 offers up to 375+ Mbps, while the V4 promises 400+ Mbps. SpaceX notes that actual speeds depend on service plan, time of day, network capacity, and local congestion.
Both dishes are compatible with the same routers: Router 2, Router 3, and Router Mini.
