From July 2 to 5, Riga’s cultural venue Hanzas Perons hosts the second edition of the international contemporary art fair «Riga Contemporary». Organized by the Kim? Contemporary Art Centre in collaboration with the Riga City Council, the fair aims to strengthen the Baltic region’s position in the global art market by creating a platform for collaboration between galleries, artists, collectors, and art professionals.
This year, 40 galleries from 17 countries are participating, including galleries from Tokyo, New York, London, Milan, Vienna, Athens, and the Baltic states. Approximately 100 artists are represented. Admission is free, but advance registration is required.
The public program takes place on July 3 and 4, focusing on three themes: art and technology, art and finance, and art and ideas. Participants include curators, museum directors, collectors, and artists from Latvia and abroad. On July 3, a discussion on the role of regional art fairs and a conversation about art collecting in 2026 will feature representatives from Artsy, the Financial Times, and Art in America. On July 4, the spotlight shifts to private art foundations and collection strategies, with a former Christie’s expert discussing digital ownership.
In addition to the gallery exhibitions, visitors can enjoy art tours, creative workshops for families, and a new work «Milda» created by artist Krišs Salmanis specifically for the fair. The event is supported by Citadele bank as its main partner, along with other sponsors and media partners.
