Štolcermanis Claims Fifth Place in FREC Round in Hungary
Latvian driver Tomass Štolcermanis secured fifth place in the first race of the fifth round of the Formula Regional European Championship (FREC) at Hungaroring on Saturday, marking his best result in the series so far.

Tomass Štolcermanis achieved his highest finish yet in the FREC championship on Saturday, taking fifth place at the Hungaroring circuit in Hungary. The Latvian driver, who had qualified sixth, gained one position during the race.
The winner of the first race was Japan's Yuki Sano from the R-ace team, with Štolcermanis finishing 9.165 seconds behind. Second place went to Sano's teammate Rashid al Daheri from the UAE (+1.228s), while third was Rodin driver Reza Sivurutun (+3.955s). Another R-ace driver, Italian Emanuele Olivieri, took fourth (+5.323s).
Among rookies, Štolcermanis was the second fastest, trailing only Olivieri. This was the first time the Latvian broke into the top five in FREC. The second race of the round is scheduled for Sunday.
The FREC season consists of eight rounds held until September on circuits that also host Formula 1 races. Štolcermanis plans to participate in all rounds.
In February, the 19-year-old competed for PHM Racing in a UAE4 Series round in Qatar, finishing ninth, second, and retiring in the three races. Over the previous three years, he raced in Italian, Middle Eastern, and Southeast Asian F4 series.
