Stop! That! Train! – Summer's Funniest Film Starring Drag Icons
In an interview with the stars and director of Stop! That! Train!, the drag comedy set in a parallel America where railways rule and RuPaul is president reveals itself as a crossover hit aimed at everyone, not just Drag Race fans.

The new comedy Stop! That! Train! promises to be the funniest film of the summer, blending drag queens with disaster genre. The story follows Tess (Ginger Minj) and DeeDee (Jujubee), who become stewardesses on the luxury train Glamazonian after being laid off from Stank Rail. The plot includes natural disasters, presidential politics, musical numbers, paranormal activity, and Sarah Michelle Gellar. The script by Christina Friel and Connor Wright is incredibly dense with jokes per minute, requiring multiple viewings to catch them all.
Director Adam Shankman, who previously guest-judged on RuPaul's Drag Race, emphasized the film's broad appeal: "I was very clear that I was making a movie for everyone, not just Drag Race fans." Initially set on a plane, Shankman moved the story to a train to avoid remaking Airplane!, creating tension with turbulence and falling oxygen masks.
The cast includes Brooke Lynn Hytes, Marty Lauter, Raven-Symoné, and of course RuPaul as President Judy Gagwell. Filming took only 19 days on a small budget. Despite some controversy over alleged AI use in visual effects (denied by Shankman), the film has already been released in the US and will follow in the UK and Australia.
