Following intense rain on the night before Sunday, a water leak was detected in building 32 of Pauls Stradiņš Clinical University Hospital (PSKUS), affecting several departments. The most severe damage was in the 14th ward of the Pulmonary Diseases and Thoracic Surgery Centre on the sixth floor. Minor leaks were observed in lower wards, and water ingress occurred in some basement rooms of building 15.
To ensure patient safety, the hospital decided to relocate 32 patients from the affected 14th ward. They will continue their treatment in the General Cardiology Department and the Intensive Care Unit, where beds have been prepared.
The hospital stated that planned patient admissions continued on Sunday as scheduled. However, after assessing bed availability and treatment capacity, the hospital plans to temporarily limit the flow of planned cardiology patients and suspend planned admissions for internal medicine patients.
