Drone strike kills energy worker repairing power grid in Sumy region

A Russian drone struck a repair crew's vehicle in the Konotop district of Sumy region, killing the driver and wounding an electrician who had been sent to fix damaged power lines.

An employee of a regional power utility was killed in a Russian drone attack while responding to repair damaged electrical infrastructure in the Konotop district of Ukraine's Sumy region, regional military administration head Oleh Hryhorov reported.

According to Hryhorov, workers from the regional electricity network company had been dispatched to the district to fix damage to the power grid. While the crew was working, an enemy drone struck their repair vehicle.

Casualties

The attack killed the vehicle's 53-year-old driver, who worked as an energy technician. A second crew member, a 50-year-old electrician, was wounded and taken to hospital.

No further details on the wounded worker's condition have been released, nor has additional information about the exact circumstances of the strike been made public.
