BBC Sport pundit Chris Sutton, Courteeners frontman Liam Fray and an AI tool have shared their predictions for the opening weekend of the new Premier League season. Manchester United fan Fray is optimistic about his club's prospects under new manager Michael Carrick.

The new Premier League season kicks off with a full round of fixtures, and BBC Sport has gathered predictions from pundit Chris Sutton, Courteeners frontman Liam Fray, and an AI tool powered by Microsoft Copilot Chat.
Fray, a lifelong Manchester United supporter, says he feels optimistic about the club's chances this season, largely thanks to new manager Michael Carrick, who took charge after Ruben Amorim was sacked in January. Fray believes Carrick has a genuine connection with the club and its fans that sets him apart from recent predecessors including Ralf Rangnick, Erik ten Hag and Amorim.

Sutton tips Arsenal as the team to beat this season, pointing to their commanding Community Shield win over Manchester City. Arsenal open their campaign at home to newly promoted Coventry, with both Sutton and the AI tool predicting a 3-0 win.

Sutton and Fray also discussed summer transfer business across the league, including Sandro Tonali's move to Tottenham and Bruno Guimaraes joining Newcastle.
