The morning programme "Rīta panorāma" on Latvian Television (LTV), the national public broadcaster, was off the air for about 40 minutes on the morning of Friday, 16 October because of technical problems. The fault involved the sound, and viewers noticed it right after the show began.

According to LTV, the programme started at 6:30 a.m. but was halted at 6:32 a.m. Viewers were told there would be a pause while minor problems were resolved. Other content was broadcast in the meantime.

The programme resumed at 7:19 a.m. LTV representatives announced that the broadcast had been restored and apologised once more for the technical issues. Latvian Public Media, the organisation that runs LTV, was also informed immediately about the faults.

The source does not say what exactly caused the sound problems or whether similar disruptions could occur in future.
