Telia to Cut About 100 Jobs in Estonia, 900 Across the Group
Telecommunications and IT provider Telia will eliminate around 100 positions in Estonia, as part of 900 job cuts across the group. The company says it needs to stay competitive by making greater use of AI and automation.

Telecommunications and IT provider Telia has announced that it plans to cut about 100 jobs in Estonia. Across the whole Telia group, 900 positions are due to be eliminated. The company says the step is needed to stay competitive in the market.
Telia intends to make the necessary decisions by the end of 2026. According to its press release, consultations with the Estonian Unemployment Insurance Fund (EUIF) have already begun.
Why the restructuring is happening
Telia is increasingly relying on artificial intelligence, digitalization and automation to lower costs and remain competitive. Andre Visse, CEO of Telia Eesti, said the goal is to build a more efficient organization that can adapt to changing customer needs and fast technological progress.
He noted that customers increasingly expect more personalized, digital solutions, while technology is developing faster than ever. Although these changes open up new opportunities, rising costs still threaten the company's ability to invest and grow. According to Visse, the changes should also help ease growing pressure on service prices.
More operations at country level
In a statement issued in Sweden, Telia said it intends to localize its operations further and strengthen the role of its country units in meeting evolving customer needs and delivering profitable growth.
The company also plans to transfer around 220 positions, mainly from its central Technology unit, to country-level operations.
