Tesla posted a massive surge in vehicle deliveries for the second quarter of 2026, with over 480,000 units handed over to customers. This represents an increase of more than 120,000 compared to the first quarter, signaling the company's continued ability to attract electric vehicle buyers despite a downturn in the U.S. market.

On Thursday, Tesla announced it produced a total of 451,758 vehicles during the quarter. Of these, 442,936 were the Model 3 sedan and Model Y SUV. Deliveries for these two popular models reached 467,762, while the remaining 12,364 consisted of "other models" — including the Cybertruck and the final production units of the Model S sedan and Model X SUV.

This marks Tesla's best second quarter ever in raw delivery numbers, easily surpassing Wall Street expectations. It also represents the company's best quarter for overall sales since the third quarter of 2025, when it shipped just under 500,000 vehicles globally. Despite this strong performance, Tesla continues to grapple with a two-year trend of declining overall sales. The second-quarter results indicate that the company is finding ways to counter this trend through geographic expansion and by offering cheaper versions of the Model 3, Model Y, and Cybertruck. These moves are helping Tesla attract new buyers even as the U.S. EV market faces headwinds.
