Quiz: Could you pass the 9th-grade history exam? Real tasks from the 2009 national test
Latvijas Avīze has published a ten-question history quiz. The tasks come from the 2009 national test for 9th grade.

The website of the Latvian newspaper Latvijas Avīze (la.lv) has published a quiz that lets readers test their knowledge of history. The tasks are taken from the 2009 national test in history intended for 9th-grade pupils, the final stage of basic school. The quiz lets adults and pupils alike find out whether they could handle such an exam today.
What the questions cover
The quiz spans the most important events, processes and personalities in the history of Latvia and the world. It includes questions on chronology and historical periods, national symbols, notable figures, and social processes.
How the quiz works
There are ten questions in total. Each has two possible answers, and only one may be chosen as the correct one. To receive a passing grade, a participant must answer at least four questions correctly.
The first question asks which of two events in Latvian history happened earlier: Riga joining the Hanseatic League or the creation of the Duchy of Courland and Semigallia. The remaining questions are available in the quiz itself.
The quiz is not an official assessment. It offers a chance to recall the history course learned at school and to compare one's answers with what was asked in a national test more than a decade ago.
