Latvian basketball player Toms Leimanis will continue his career in the Spanish second division club Ourense, the team announced on Saturday.

Leimanis, a 31-year-old point guard and Latvian national team candidate, was praised by head coach Moncho Lopez for his versatility and adaptability. "His arrival allows us to take a step forward as a team," Lopez said, highlighting Leimanis's ability to play both as a scorer and a playmaker.

Last season, Leimanis played for multiple teams. From August 2025, he represented Mexican champions Diablos Rojos, then joined VEF Rīga in October before leaving in early November. In January, he moved to Icelandic club KR Reykjavik, averaging 17.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 4.3 assists in 11 regular-season games. He won the Icelandic Cup alongside Linards Jaunzems and Rinalds Mālmanis. In the playoffs, he averaged 16 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists in four games as his team lost in the quarterfinals.

In the 2024/25 season, Leimanis played for Monbus Obradorio in Spain's second division, and before that, two seasons with Estudiantes Madrid. He began his career at Ventspils and has also played for Liepājas lauvas, Valka/Valga, Greek Koroivos, Spanish Valladolid, Belarusian Tsmoki-Minsk, Ukrainian Odesa, and Lithuanian Neptūnas.

Leimanis is included in the Latvian national team candidate list for the 2027 FIBA World Cup qualifiers in July. Ourense finished 12th in the 17-team league last season with a 12-20 record.
