Latvian Basketball Player Toms Leimanis Continues Career in Spain
Latvian point guard Toms Leimanis has signed with Spanish LEB Oro club Ourense, as announced by the team.

Latvian basketball player Toms Leimanis will continue his career with Ourense, a Spanish second-division club, the team announced. The 31-year-old point guard is also a candidate for the Latvian national team. The club highlighted Leimanis' extensive experience in basketball across various countries and his participation in high-level competitions.
Head coach Moncho López stated that Leimanis' arrival allows the team to take a step forward. "He is a player who has demonstrated a great ability to adapt to the needs of the moment throughout his career. He has taken on different roles, being a scorer in some teams and more of a playmaker in others. This versatility is one of the qualities we value most," López said.
In August 2025, Leimanis played for Mexican champions Diablos Rojos. In October, he joined VEF Rīga with an agreement until the last FIBA Champions League game and left in early November. In January, he continued his career with KR Reykjavik in Iceland. In 11 regular-season games, he averaged 17.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 4.3 assists. Together with Linards Jaunzems and Rinalds Mālmanis, he won the Icelandic Cup. In the playoffs, despite the team's quarterfinal exit, he averaged 16 points, four rebounds, and four assists in four games.
Last season (2024/2025), the Latvian played for Monbus Obradoiro in Spain, and prior to that spent two seasons with Estudiantes Madrid in the same league. The guard, who began his career at Ventspils, has also played for Liepājas lauvas, Valka/Valga, Greek Koroivos, Spanish Valladolid, Belarusian Tsmoki-Minsk, Ukrainian Odesa, and Lithuanian Neptūnas.
Leimanis is included in the Latvian national team's candidate list for the first round of the 2027 World Cup qualifiers in July. Ourense finished the previous season 12th out of 17 in the Spanish second division with a 12-20 record.
