Trump's envoys head to Zelensky after meeting Putin
US special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner met with Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin, and on September 6 they are set to travel to Kyiv for talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Both Ukraine and Russia are refraining from strikes on each other's capitals during the envoys' visits.
US President Donald Trump's special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner held a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin in Moscow.
Following the talks, the two envoys are scheduled to travel to Kyiv on September 6 to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
A pause over the capitals
In connection with the visits by Trump's envoys, both Ukraine and Russia have agreed to hold off on strikes against each other's capital cities — Kyiv and Moscow, respectively — for the duration of the trips.
The talks form part of broader diplomatic efforts by the US administration aimed at achieving progress toward resolving the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
