Trump's Truth Social starts selling early access to his posts for $100,000 a month

US President Donald Trump's Truth Social platform is selling Wall Street traders early access to his posts for $100,000 a month, raising concerns over insider trading and using public office for private gain.

US President Donald Trump is putting a price on his words. Starting Saturday, his social media company Truth Social will offer paying Wall Street clients an early glimpse of his posts for $100,000 per month. The plan could bring big revenues to Trump's business, but it also raises questions about insider trading and whether the president is using his position for personal profit.

Similar high-speed feeds are available from other social networks and data providers. But Truth Social is unusual because it generates the news it distributes: Trump uses the platform to announce policy shifts on wars, central bank leadership and tariffs, and markets regularly react to his posts.

"If this was the CEO of a public company, this would be jail time," said Irene Aldridge, head of trading firm Able Alpha Trading, which has no plans to subscribe. She said the US president has a front-row seat to decision-making and is now disclosing it early to a selected audience.

The White House press office declined to answer questions about the service and referred them to Truth Social's parent company. Trump Media & Technology issued a statement accusing Democratic critics of distorting the service "out of ideological opposition to free markets or a failure to grasp the distinction between public and nonpublic information".

Just in the past month, Trump used Truth Social to threaten higher tariffs on Canada, abandoning a nuclear agreement with Saudi Arabia and widening the war in Iran. Traders with advanced knowledge could have profited from the resulting market swings. Joe Saluzzi, co-founder of Themis Trading, estimates about 100 high-frequency trading firms may be willing to pay. "It's market-moving information."

The company says subscribers and the public will receive the posts at the same time, so there is no fairness issue. Saluzzi disagrees, saying what matters is when the data is received, and ordinary retail investors will lose out.

Trump has also been posting about publicly traded companies. In April, his mention of Palantir Technologies with its stock symbol caused a brief sharp jump in the share price. Later, a post praising Intel boosted its stock in after-hours trading.

It remains unclear which firms are signing up; major high-speed traders such as Citadel Securities and XTX Markets did not respond to requests for comment. If just three clients pay the $100,000 monthly fee, Trump Media would double its revenue, which was $3.7 million last year. The parent company's stock has dropped 75 percent since Trump took office.

Senator Elizabeth Warren said Friday that if Democrats take control of Congress, they will investigate: "We will haul in those responsible for this open corruption to answer to the American people." Some analysts expect Trump to make even more policy announcements on the platform if losses continue. "Trump knows how to sell products," said Craig Holman of Public Citizen.
