Three-time Stanley Cup champion Jonathan Toews retires
Jonathan Toews, who won three Stanley Cups with the Chicago Blackhawks, has announced his retirement due to long-term health issues.

Canadian forward Jonathan Toews, a three-time Stanley Cup champion, announced the end of his professional hockey career. In recent years, he has been plagued by health problems, including lingering effects from COVID-19 and chronic inflammatory response syndrome, which caused him to miss two full seasons.
Toews returned to the ice last season with the Winnipeg Jets, playing all 82 regular season games and recording 29 points (11 goals, 18 assists). Before his illness, he spent 15 seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks as captain, winning the Stanley Cup in 2010, 2013, and 2015. In the first of those titles, he was also named playoff MVP.
In the NHL regular season, Toews played 1,149 games, scoring 383 goals and adding 529 assists. With Team Canada, he won Olympic gold in 2010 and 2014, the 2016 World Cup of Hockey, the 2007 World Championship, and two World Junior Championships.
