US President Donald Trump told reporters on Wednesday, September 2, that the renewed American campaign against Iran would not last long. The statement was reported by Reuters and AP, cited by the outlet "European Pravda".

According to Trump, Iran had been trying to build a missile capable of dropping mines, and the United States destroyed it. He also said Iran had been working to rebuild its radar and missile systems, which likewise became targets of American strikes.

Trump expressed confidence that the war with Iran would not continue for long.

Strike near the Strait of Hormuz

"We destroyed all the new equipment they were trying to build along the Strait of Hormuz — both defensive and offensive... Last night was a very powerful strike, and we are ready to deliver another one at any moment," the US president said.

On September 1, Trump had already warned that if Iran responded to the previous US attack, it would face a "much stronger and larger" strike. That same day, US armed forces reported strikes on facilities belonging to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Media had previously reported that the US president was considering limited strikes on Iran in the area of the Strait of Hormuz in response to attacks on ships.
