Firefighters are battling to contain large wildfires in Spain's Madrid region, where flames are spreading under extreme heat and dry conditions. Aerial footage shows helicopters and aircraft dropping water and fire retardant on the burning areas, while ground crews work to control the blazes.

The footage, captured in Sierra Oeste and nearby areas, shows thick smoke rising from forests as emergency teams operate on the ground. Night images released by the Spanish Civil Guard reveal fires still burning in Avila province, including areas near Sotillo de Adrada.

Spain is experiencing a challenging wildfire season this year, with extreme heat and drought increasing the risk of large-scale fires. Authorities have evacuated thousands of people from affected zones, while others have been ordered to stay indoors. Officials warn that another heatwave could further escalate fire risks across the country.
