Ukraine struck three Russian Kalibr-capable ships on 12 August, but the fleet still has at least five

Before 12 August, Russia's Black Sea Fleet had eight Kalibr-capable warships; after the strike at least five remain, and on 19 August one of the untouched ships fired on Kyiv.

On 12 August, Ukrainian forces carried out a strike that hit three Russian Black Sea Fleet warships equipped with Kalibr cruise missiles. Before that strike, the fleet had eight such vessels.

After the attack, Russia's Black Sea Fleet still has at least five warships capable of launching Kalibr missiles. This means that despite the losses on 12 August, a significant portion of the fleet retains the ability to carry out missile strikes against Ukrainian targets.

Strike on Kyiv

On 19 August, one of the warships that had not been hit in the 12 August strike was used to attack Kyiv. This indicates that the remaining Kalibr-capable ships continue to be actively involved in Russian strikes on Ukraine's capital and other targets.

Russia regularly uses Kalibr cruise missiles to strike Ukrainian cities and infrastructure, launching them from warships in the Black Sea toward targets across Ukraine, including Kyiv.

The 12 August strike against three ships reduced the Russian fleet's capacity to carry out such attacks, but did not eliminate it entirely — most of the Kalibr-equipped warships remain operational and continue to take part in strikes against Ukraine.
