Ukraine turns Russia's last land route to Crimea into 'road of death'

According to British newspaper "The Telegraph", the situation in the temporarily occupied southern regions of Ukraine is becoming increasingly critical for Russian forces. The R-280 highway, the last reliable land connection between Russia and the occupied Crimean peninsula, is under constant attack from Ukrainian drones. The Russian army now refers to this road as the "road of death."

Unlike the jungle trails of the Vietnam War, vehicle convoys on the R-280 have no place to hide from the attacks. Russia has only two routes to reach Crimea: the Kerch Strait bridge, which is already heavily damaged and vulnerable to further strikes, and the R-280. The Russian military leadership has long avoided using the bridge for fuel and ammunition supplies, fearing new attacks.

As a result, Russia faces a dilemma – after more than four years of war, there is no longer a safe way to supply Crimea. Ukraine's drone tactics have made the R-280 nearly unusable for the Russian army, causing serious logistical disruptions.
