Ukraine and Latvia coordinate joint work directions for unmanned systems development
Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov and his Latvian counterpart Raimonds Melnis have agreed on further cooperation in unmanned systems, including the supply of anti-drone equipment and joint projects.

Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov announced on Saturday, June 13, that he had a meeting with Latvian Defense Minister Raimonds Melnis, during which they coordinated joint work directions for the development of unmanned systems.
During the talks, the ministers discussed further steps for cooperation in unmanned systems and technologies aimed at countering aerial threats. Fedorov stated that Ukrainian technologies and combat experience help partners adapt faster to the challenges of modern warfare, while allied support enables quicker scaling of solutions that have proven effective on the battlefield.
A separate focus of the conversation was the development of partnership within the framework of the Drone Deal and the launch of new joint projects. The parties also identified priority areas for using partner resources to strengthen the Defense Forces.
Among the practical work directions, Fedorov highlighted the supply of Latvian-produced anti-drone systems, as well as unmanned systems for the Defense Forces. This includes attack drones, ground robotic complexes, and maritime unmanned vehicles.
It is worth recalling that on June 9, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during a visit to Estonia for the Nordic-Baltic Eight summit, held his first meeting with new Latvian Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs, where they signed the Drone Deal agreement on unmanned aerial vehicles. At a briefing during the visit, Zelenskyy said that Ukraine could send experts to Baltic countries to help them protect against "stray" Ukrainian drones.
