Ukraine carried out at least 131 long-range strikes on Russian territory over the summer
According to Ukraine's Center for Strategic Communications, Ukraine conducted at least 131 confirmed long-range strikes on Russia this summer, primarily targeting oil refineries and military logistics to weaken Russia's ability to finance the war.
Ukraine's Center for Strategic Communications, analyzing open-source data, has found that Ukraine carried out at least 131 confirmed long-range strikes on targets inside Russian territory during the summer months. The analysis includes only strikes officially confirmed by Ukrainian authorities and military command, excluding unverified claims from Russian sources.
The number of strikes rose steadily throughout the summer: 23 confirmed episodes in June, 44 in July, and 64 in August. Ukraine's armed forces have expanded the range of their strike capabilities to the point that almost no strategic target in Russia remains protected by distance alone. One of the summer's notable records was a July strike on the Omsk oil refinery, located 2,500 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
Repeated and geographically widespread strikes
Many facilities were hit multiple times to degrade their capacity. The Slavneft-YANOS oil refinery in Yaroslavl region was struck four times over the summer, while the Afipsky and Ilsky refineries in Krasnodar Krai, as well as the TANECO refinery in Tatarstan, were each hit three times. In total, strikes reached 33 administrative regions of Russia, with Krasnodar Krai the most affected (24 confirmed strikes), followed by the Republic of Bashkortostan and Rostov region (eight strikes each).
While nearly half of the strikes still occurred within tactical range, about a third were carried out at distances of 500 to 1,000 kilometers, and more than a fifth reached beyond 1,000 kilometers into Russian territory.
Fuel and military infrastructure as top targets
Russia's fuel and energy sector remained the primary target over the summer, with oil refineries accounting for more than a third of all strikes (42 attacks), and another 13% aimed at oil logistics facilities. The second-largest target category was military bases, airfields, and ammunition depots (38 strikes), while roughly 12% of strikes hit defense-industrial and chemical enterprises along with logistics and port infrastructure.
The center concludes that the cumulative effect of these strikes is gradually depleting Russia's capacity to finance and sustain the war, while undermining the narrative of a safe and unreachable Russian rear.
