Ukrainian Drones Spark Fire at Oil Refinery in Russia's Samara Region

Overnight into Tuesday, Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles struck the Kuibyshev oil refinery located in Russia's Samara region, sparking a large fire at the facility.

Ukrainian Telegram channels reported the strike and published video footage from the scene. There is currently no independent information available regarding casualties, the extent of the damage, or whether operations at the refinery have been halted.

The Samara region lies a considerable distance from the Ukrainian border, and strikes of this kind demonstrate Ukraine's ability to hit targets deep inside Russian territory. Oil refining facilities have repeatedly been targeted in Ukrainian drone attacks, given their ties to Russia's energy sector and fuel supplies.
