Ukrainian drones reach Plesetsk cosmodrome in Russia's Arkhangelsk region

Ukrainian drones have conducted one of the longest-range raids into Russian territory since the war began, reaching the Plesetsk cosmodrome in the Arkhangelsk region. This was reported by Jānis Slaidiņš, a major in Latvia's National Armed Forces and an officer at the National Guard staff, during the TV24 programme "Aktuālais par karadarbību Ukrainā", citing publicly available information.

Other sources have also reported drones reaching the Arkhangelsk region, though the precise results of the strike are not yet clear.

A key military facility

The Plesetsk cosmodrome is one of Russia's most important military space infrastructure sites. Slaidiņš explained that it has for several years hosted Russia's intercontinental ballistic missiles, including the "Sarmat", and that Russia has launched "Soyuz" and "Angara" rockets carrying military satellites from the site, along with satellite constellations Russia views as its alternative to Starlink.

He stressed that the full extent of the damage caused by the strike is not yet known, noting that available information so far shows only smoke at the site and confirms that drones reached it. In his view, this means Ukraine will continue such raids until it achieves its objective.
